the StruwwelpeterThe Struwwelpeter

A series of flag, tunnel, and pop-up books with electronics.
In the mid-19th century Heinrich Hoffman wrote and illustrated a series of morality tales for children. The result in each is so disastrous they're fantastically shockingly inappropriate for children. So, I decided to make a series of pop-up books based on them. (in progress)

Augustus Who Would Not Eat His Soup (a tunnel book)

Augustus refuses to eat his soup and he wastes away and dies. Each page of this is composed as it's own unique tunnel book (there are 6 total). Each book has its own LED lighting. The entire series also comes with its own accordion fold text version. You can view details and video of the book in action here.

The Story of Flying Robert (a flag book)

On a rainy day good children stay inside but Robert does not. And you know what happens when you go out in the rain? The wind picks you up and carries you away and no one ever sees you again. This book is constructed as a flag book. You can view details and video of the book in action here.

Flying Robert

Shockheaded Peter (an accordion pop-up book)

Peter is a filthy boy with uncombed hair and dirty nails and everyone is disgusted by him. This book is constructed as an accordion-fold pop-up book. You can view details and video of the book in action here.

Little Suck A Thumb (a tunnel book)

Conrad keeps sucking his thumbs until the evil tailor comes through the window and chops them off. As with Augustus, each page of this book is composed as it's own unique tunnel book (there are 5 total). Each book has its own LED lighting. The entire series also comes with its own accordion fold text version. You can view details and video of the book in action here.

Cruel Frederick

Frederick is a violent and mean lad, who beats up on the wrong dog one day, who mauls him in response. This book is still in progress. It is a pop-up book. Electronics will be added to each individual page shortly. You can view details and video of the book in action here.
